Why this cannot be a formula

Bikram Sambat month lengths vary between 29 and 32 days in a pattern fixed by the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti, not by arithmetic. There is no leap-year rule to apply. The calendar has to be tabulated year by year, and a single wrong month length silently corrupts every date after it.

How this table was checked

The table covers 2000–2090 BS and was verified on five independent properties before being used:

• 91 contiguous years, no gaps
• exactly twelve months in every year
• every month between 29 and 32 days
• every year totalling 365 or 366 days — 68 and 23 respectively
• Baisakh 1 falling between 12 and 15 April in all 91 years — 49 on 14 April, 41 on 13 April, 1 on 15 April, none outside

That last one is the test that matters. Nepali New Year is astronomically pinned to mid-April, and errors in a table like this accumulate — one wrong month length would push every later new year out of the window. Surviving 91 consecutive years is strong evidence the whole table is intact. Every date in the range also round-trips BS → AD → BS unchanged.

It refuses rather than guesses

Dates before 14 April 1943 or after the end of 2090 BS throw an error instead of being extrapolated. Silently returning a wrong date would be worse than refusing, because nothing downstream could tell.

The fiscal year

Nepal's fiscal year runs Shrawan to Ashadh, so any date before Shrawan belongs to the previous fiscal year. The converter shows which one you are in — useful when the tax tables change between them.
