Get a PDF's text into an editable .docx. Runs in your browser — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Text-based PDFs. Scans need OCR, which this does not do.
It extracts the text from your PDF and writes it into a real .docx you can edit
in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice. Paragraphs and page breaks survive. Columns, tables, images and exact
positioning do not.
No free browser tool preserves layout properly, and the ones that claim to are usually doing the conversion on a server you have just uploaded your document to. If you genuinely need pixel-faithful layout, you need a desktop converter — and it is worth being told that rather than sold something that will disappoint you.
Your PDF is almost certainly a scan — a picture of a page rather than text. There are no characters in the file to pull out. Getting text from a scan requires OCR, which is a different process entirely. This tool tells you when it finds nothing rather than handing you a blank document and letting you discover it later.
For layout-faithful conversion, a subscription is defensible — that is genuinely hard work running on real hardware. For extracting text, it is not. Your browser already ships everything needed, which is why this page costs nothing to run and therefore costs you nothing to use.
